Merry Bloggy Christmas!

Well, folks, this is my first Bloggy Christmas, and I'd like to wish all of you - whether you comment or not - a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Those of you who've experienced the Lurgy I hope you've fully recovered and feel up to tackling the event, and my commiserations to any of you who aren't quite there yet!

It took me a while to get going this year, what with one thing and another, but the tree is up and I suddenly feel a bit festive! Though we have gone for minimal decoration this year.

Had time to do some last minute stitchery - just a sneaky peek as it hasn't reached its new owner yet!

Eating out on Christmas Day so no turkey basting for me! Roast beef on Boxing day for a few of us. The ham is simmering away as I type and the veggies and lentils are waiting to go into the stock when the ham is having its finish off in the oven to crisp the skin.

So, tomorrow a sausage-meat pie to make and a spiced fruit compote to start...instead of Christmas pud, for dessert on Boxing Day. And that's me done. I've actually wrapped my presents BEFORE 1am on Christmas morning! A record for me.

It just remains for me to say how lovely it has been to 'meet' those of you who regularly leave comments for me - I thoroughly enjoy reading them and you know I reply to each and every one; it's what keeps me blogging! To you, and everyone who takes the time to pop in and have a read, friends that I know, and those of you who haven't yet introduced yourselves, I hope you all have a happy and peaceful Christmas and enjoy the 'time -out'  . Catch up with you sometime next week. xxx

  3. Hello Lynne. Lovely post as usual and look forward to seeing more in 2013. As for the lurgy, it's just hit me today and trying frantically to ward it off. Maybe a hot toddy before bed might help! Have a great Christmas.

  7. It looks so welcoming does your house, I just want to curl up by that fireplace with a book and a cup of tea and slice of cake.
I made the mistake of having to go out yesterday (23rd) for something I specifically wanted and could only get in one particular place. It was MAYHEM, it was AWFUL. We both came home, made a cuppa, sat in a chair and let out a collective sigh of relief that we have nowhere to go, nobody to see, nothing to do but whatever we want, be that staying in bed later than usual, staying up later than usual, pootling, reading new books, doing a new jigsaw, whatever. Drawbridge is raised for the next week.
Enjoy yours Lynne, it's been great meeting you this year and look forward to really doing so next year.
To you and Himself, best wishes for 2013 and safe journey to NZ.

    1. Hi Maggie! I know, I was DREADING having to get out on the main road yesterday, but went pretty earlt and it really wasn't too bad. It was a lovely feeling, as you say, to just pull up the drawbridge after that and chill out in our very boring ang lazy way. And why not????

Looking forward to meeting up in the ``New Year, we WILL do this!!

Have a lovely peaceful, comfortable festive week, looking forward to your next booky blog! Lxxxx

  11. Happy Christmas Lynne, lovely to meet you in Blogland this year, your house looks very cosy, can't wait to see the stitching in full, and tell me... how did you manage to get your presents wrapped before 1am in the morning? I am so tired :(

    1. Hi Sue! Well, I don't know, it may have been Jim saying.....have you finished with the wrapping paper I want to put it back in the loft......it was just the nudge I needed..if I'd left it any longer I'd have been furiously wrapping when Jim had gone to bed. I am SO BAD about wrapping things....I have been known to get up really early to wrap his birthday presents..... feel very virtuous this year!

Hope it went well for you all, Lxxx
