Winter Colour
Hi folks! Are you, like me, in need of a bit of cheering up? I know "t'is the season" and all that, but I have been attacked by a nasty little virus recently which, quite apart from laying me low and giving me some pain and grief, has put paid to three days - THREE WHOLE DAYS - of lovely events over this weekend gone. Add one or two other little worries to the mix and you have a not-very-festive frame of mind here in Chez Gill, I'm afraid.
SO, I thought, let's have some colour. Without too many words (I'm sure you won't mind that!) and quite a few pictures, here we go - enjoy the show!
COLOUR - in the garden.
Brave little blossoms, keepin' on keepin' on!
My garden mosaics hangin' on in there.
COLOUR- in the summer house
On the left we have the almost-finished-painting shelving unit Jim built and I wall-papered and painted. I hope you like the paper - discount store, cheap as chips but JUST what I was looking for!
On the right - the almost finished armoire. When it has its door with chicken-wire and pleated fabric finish, it will look perfectly lush. See what I mean about that paper? Picks out so many shades in the other furnishings and paint.
COLOUR- all over the place!
All my blankets - apart from the two in the summer house.
This is my Lucy Bag Mk 2 - the first one grew SOOooooo huge it now holds a gazillion balls of wool.
Lucy Bag, and the Noro wool bag I made a few months ago. Just didn't have sufficient for the strap, unfortunately.
Can't get enough of these shots of deliciousness!
…….. can you tell?
Well, that's your lot, hope it has brightened up a chilly day for you. I find clusters of colour like this actually DO make me feel warmer and happier. Visual endorphins, maybe. I hope you find something to give you a burst of cheer today. Until next time!

Lovely and you are correct, the wallpaper does kind of shout out doesn't it. I have finally finished a project that has taken me far to long - lost interest halfway through like you do!
ReplyDeleteOho! Losing interest half-way through, tell me about it! So congratulations, give yourself a pat on the back, Dc. We don't have wallpaper in the cottage for obvious reasons… terrible walls and uneven planes and rounded corners … and to be honest I dislike most of the modern designs I see - but this was exactly the right colour scheme for where it is going. Sometimes, just sometimes…. things work out right!
DeleteJust the job, Lynne. I know how you've been feeling as I've just cancelled another social jolly.
ReplyDeleteAh Jayne- you under the weather too? It's so frustrating when it is something you've really looked forward to - I am especially cross about missing the Rob Harbron gig at Ely on Friday, it was excellent, so I hear. Ah well…. worse things happen at sea!
DeleteLike you I have been under the weather add in various other in the scheme of things minor worries and before you know it the grey blanket is overhead again. My day at the seaside helped like your lovely colours but of course it isn't a cure merely a treatment. Hopefully it won't be long before we are all completely better and can face a few more grey months as long as we keep taking the colour/sunshine medicine!! Hope you will feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteAh, Jane, it can be so hard, can't it, to keep up the sunny side when that grey blanket threatens to drape itself over you. Colour is, I really believe, a real boost to our spirits. My guid wishes to you too. Lxxx
Deletewhat lovely blankets. and I really like the paper in the back of the shelves.
ReplyDeleteYou can see a photo of the room when we first finished it a few posts back, Sol, with the chairs and blankets on view - you'll see exactly how well that wallpaper fits! x
DeleteSorry to hear you've not been well....lots of nasty things going around apparently. Thankfully, we've escaped them so far...
ReplyDeleteThat wallpaper is lovely and sets off the furniture beautifully....how clever hubby is. Gorgeous colours, if I were you I'd live in that summer house!
I was interested to read your previous post, thank you for all the info. Good to see it's having such a positive effect on you both.
Glad to have piqued your interest Sooze, and hope you'll join in the conversation if you have anything to add to this topic; it is so new to lots of people, they are tempted to give it a go but nervous about putting a toe in the water, as it were. We have had only good results so far. Lx
DeleteIt all looks so lovely!
ReplyDeleteAh thanks Kath - always nice to have a splash of deep rich colour when you're a bit 'meh', isn't it? Lxxxxx
Deletetwo posts in a week!!!!! as usual i love the colours of your blankets and the shelving unit and the wallpaper - hope you are getting plenty of rest and feels tons better now xx
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne - I had to cheer myself up somehow!!! he wool seems to have taken over from the fabric at the moment and I don't see any change ahead. Lxxxx
DeleteYour little summer house is really coming along..love the cupboard and all the lovely colored blankies!
ReplyDeleteI really like this post of pretty colours. Your blankets look so cosy. Remind me of my Gran's crocheting when I was a girl. Beautiful colours in the summer house - all lovely. It is so very grey I agree and sunshine very rare. Sorry you are still feeling unwell and hope you start to get much better soon. XX
ReplyDeleteThanks Ali! I think you really need an injection of colour when the weather is grey. I am feeling tons better, thanks and enjoying spending time in the summer house now that we have heat and light in there! Lxx
